About the League

Strongsville Football League, Inc. is a non-profit,program. SFL is the only football program in Strongsville that is community based where the volunteers

Strongsville based, youth football and cheerleading

are all Strongsville citizens and the money paid to the program through fees and sponsorship benefits

only Strongsville’s youth.

The SFL program is designed for all girls and boys from the ages of 5-13 divided into four age groups.

Our goal is to see that each child has an opportunity to participate. Every football team, flag and tackle,

has a cheerleading squad. The philosophy of the program is to teach life lessons to your children while

learning the fundamentals of the game. Some of these lessons are as follows:

Dealing with adversity and methods to overcome it.

Setting realistic goals and achieving these goals.

Playing the game for your teammates with selfless play.

Every player and participant is important to the team no matter what the skill level.

Teaching each player how to win and lose with the proper attitude.

Sportsmanship, a positive attitude and team play before anything else.

The intent of this program is to be a direct feeder program for the junior high and high school programs.

We receive outstanding support and direct involvement from the SHS varsity players and coaching

staffs. We want the junior high staff to know your children before they enter 7th grade. We want our

children to be a Mustang and to be proud of our football and cheerleading history. We want our young

boys and girls to have a desire to play on Catan’s field when they get to high school. And we want your

child to develop the skills and character to succeed.

We also take extra care to ensure that the Coaches in this program are qualified and trained to teach

and mentor your children. Coaches are required to attend Coach’s Clinics, and submit themselves

to a mandatory criminal background checks. At least one coach per team receives CPR training and

certification.
